The definitions for blood pressure categories are derived from the 2018 ESC/ESH Guidelines for managing arterial hypertension by the European Society of Cardiology and the European Society of Hypertension, as well as the 2017 Guideline for High Blood Pressure in Adults by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.
